I moved from the
west coast to Greer, in the Upstate of South Carolina in 2000. I
started creating mosaics in earnest shortly after I moved here. I use
various types of glass and have started incorporating rocks and sheards
into my more recent works and am having fun playing with the different
materials.
It was while planning a mosaic design of a person that I stumbled into
the art of paper cut outs. I was using paper to try and get the
shading and contours of the human face just right before I went to
cutting and working with glass. Much to my surprise and delight,
the paper came to life with each snip of the scissors.
I am a member of
the Metropolitan Arts
Council of Greenville SC.
"Emergence,"
one of my stained glass mosaics, exhibited in the juried show Fire, Water, Earth, Air
at Ciel Gallery in Charlotte NC
Mar-May, 2011.
In 2011, I
participated locally in Greenville Downtown Alive MAC Arts Tent, in the Artist Showcase at Freedom Weekend Aloft in Simpsonville,
in the Trillium Arts Festival in Travelers Rest, and in
Homegrown Arts and
Crafts of the Upstate's first ever Holiday Market and Food Drive at
The Handlebar in Greenville, SC. It was exciting for Steph-n-Annie's
Arts to promote and help organize the holiday market event and food
drive, hopefully to become an
annual event.

Ann M.L. Johnson

As a long-time art
lover, it remains a passion and a discipline that I continue to
study and grow at understanding. I studied at the Art Student’s League of Denver
for 2-years
and found a great deal of interest in drawing and painting
techniques with various mediums, including Charcoal, Pastel and
Oil. I also had the honor of attending a week long
workshop in 2008 with internationally known and esteemed master
watercolorist Cheng-Khee Chee.
Other professional interests include nursing and astrology. I am
a Registered Nurse, more or less retired, and have practiced as an
Astrologer, which I’ve studied for 30-plus years and maintain a keen
interest in. I live in beautiful downtown Denver, Colorado
situated at the bottom of the great Rocky Mountains.
Some of Ann's
framed
prints can be found at Spanky's Backyard BBQ in Six Mile SC.
